31.08 Obama: Strike Against Syria After Congress Approval
MOSCOW, August 31 (RIA Novosti) US President Barack Obama said Saturday that Washington is ready to take military action against Bashar Assads regime in Syria but added that he will seek US Congress authorization.
Obama said that his decision follows what he called this centurys worst chemical weapons attack that occurred outside Damascus on Aug. 21 and took lives of more than 1,000 people, including hundreds of children.
